My first duty to the Santa Cruz Council #971 is to thank the Past Grand Knights who have given us such a rich heritage. Writing this on the Fourth of July brings to mind my dad J. Frank Gallagher, a PGK. He taught me so much about Family, Church and Patriotism. As he dressed up as Uncle Sam at the Santa Cruz Celebration, it brings to mind the PGKs who worked so hard to bring us into the 21st Century.
During my time as Grand Knight I plan to ask the advice of each active and inactive member to get a feel for our best effort in the Six Parish area we support. It is not enough to just send out a check to help the pastor, we need to "Be There" and have contact where possible. Our charitable efforts will not be forgotten in these difficult times. That once a month dinner is there for our Brother Knights to come and see the effort first-hand and be in on the result. Our dinner social is the Fourth Wednesday of each month except December.
